David Isby
David C Isby is an experienced observer of Afghanistan and the Afghan wars. A former US congressional staff member and consultant on national security issues, he has written or edited over 20 books and more than 350 articles in journals such as Jane’s Intelligence Review and Air Force Monthly. David is also a former editor for Strategy & Tactics magazine and has designed several award-winning conflict simulations.(if aviation series book)David C Isby is an experienced author, having written or edited over 20 books and more than 350 articles in journals such as Jane’s Intelligence Review and Air Force Monthly. His work on World War II military aviation includes Jane’s At the Controls - The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (London, 1999, Harper Collins) and editing three volumes of Luftwaffe accounts. He is an experienced pilot and the son of a USAAF C-47 navigator. DAVID ISBY and LON NORDEEN met in New York (where they had gone to school) in the 1970s when they were working as editors and writers. Nordeen moved on to St Louis (to work in aerospace) and Isby to Washington DC (as a congressional staffer and defense and foreign policy consultant). They both continued to write books, Nordeen focusing on the Arab–Israeli confrontation and Isby on the NATO–Warsaw Pact balance and Afghanistan. This is their first co-authored publication.
