Peter Cottrell

Peter Cottrell comes from Kenfig Hill, Mid-Glamorgan in South Wales and was educated at Wolverhampton Polytechnic, University College Swansea and Britannia Royal Naval College. He joined the Territorial Army while still in school and in 1988 was commissioned into the Royal Navy. In 1995 he transferred to the Army and saw operational service in the Middle East, Bosnia and Northern Ireland, retiring as a Major after twenty-one years naval and military service. He is a qualified teacher with a BA(Hons) in War Studies and his MA History dissertation was a study of the Royal Irish Constabulary during the Anglo-Irish Troubles of 1913–22. He retired from the armed forces to become an English, history and classics teacher, and lives in Wiltshire.
