Last weekend I had the honor of going to the Museum Store Association trade show in Phoenix, and while my New York colleagues were stuck in a torrential downpour all week, I was off enjoying a variety of museum display items in sunny, 95-degree Arizona. I was particularly excited to meet the reps from Legacy of Valor, who have licensed loads of Osprey artwork to be printed on t-shirts, long sleeve shirts and hoodies (or jumpers, as I think you call them in the UK).

When it comes to fantasy fiction I'm extremely picky. Too many times the presence of elves, wizards and orcs has been an excuse for terrible dialogue and lame plots. I prefer 'realistic' fantasy where the characters and story grapple with situations and conflicts that ring true. And where they get to carry a big axe.

Hollywood is all about rebooting characters at the minute. Batman got a reboot. Then the reboot got a sequel which became one of the most successful films of all time. Bond has been rebooted - the humour and gadgets are gone and replaced by gritty punchy seat of your pants action. Which went on to spawn another film. Star Trek has been rebooted, even Wolverine has been rebooted in a way.

Every now and then we like to try something a little different. Last year it was the hugely popular Men-at-Arms Celebration. This year our departure from our usual book publishing programme came in the form of Battle: The Osprey Postcard Collection.

I had a massive response to my last post about what books had been reprinted and were now back in stock.l would like to say a big thank you to all the people who emailed me about the list, and I am sorry it has taken us so long to get this up and running on a regular basis. It will now become a monthly feature, which we will also announce in our newsletters, so you will always be able to keep in touch with what is back in stock, as soon as it is back in stock.

There was a time when “Pike and Shot” was one of the most popular periods in which to wargame. It’s not surprising; The English Civil War was the last major war fought on English soil and its battlefields are littered about the country. And yet, over the last few decades “Pike and Shot” gaming has declined until it has become something of a rarity at shows and conventions.

As I promised here, every month we are going to announce what books have been re-printed and have been brought back into print and are once again available to buy online. The Production team here have been working their socks off to get a very sizeable chuck of our books back in stock - 40 titles this month - and nearly 80 titles due in for next month!

For the last couple of months we have been talking about the imminent arrival of a fabulous, limited edition version of the Men-at-Arms Celebration.
And it has now arrived. Only 40 copies of this fantastic book have been produced. Each book is bound in goat leather, with 23 carat gold embossing. Signed and numbered by the Men-at-Arms editor Martin Windrow, this is the most exclusive Osprey book ever.

Here at Osprey HQ we have just had John, our US Sales and Marketing Director, over for a week. This generally means a chance for us not only to have a catch-up but also an opportunity to brainstorm future titles and plan our publishing programme for the next couple of years.
As you know Osprey is 40 years young this year and this August we published our 450th Men-at-Arms title. In honour of these two milestones I thought I would ask you, our readers, to join in our brainstorming session and help us decide what Men-at-Arms titles you would like to see published.

At 11am today the Osprey office will observe a two minute silence to mark Remembrance Day. This year, the respect paid to the men and women who have given their lives for their country is made even more poignant by the fact that today is the 90th anniversary of the end of The First World War.
Please join us in honouring the fallen.
