Now you are issuing a book on the Austrialian Army in WW I , how about reissuing MAA 123 Austrialian Army at War 1899-1975?. I have been seeking this book for several years hoping that it would be reprinted.

Joe,
Thanks for posting! I'm particularly excited about the Spanish Tercios and the Portuguese in the Age of Discovery. Keep up the good work!

Look forward to Australian Army in WWI and, FINALLY, macedonian (diadochi's) armies, a long overdue topic.

Thank you for sharing. Some of these titles sound very exciting!

To follow up on Loic's comment, will Osprey commission a specific title that will be MAA #500, or will they delay the publication of specific title so it will be MAA #500, since that is a milestone number?

The US 10th Mountain Division in World War II title sounds very interesting. Is this the sign of a new trend in the MAA series where it will cover specific military units in particular conflicts?

Gene,
Some of the earliest Men-at-Arms titles were regimental histories, so perhaps the upcoming volume on the 10th Mtn Div is in that tradition.

I am particularly interested in Commonwealth military history, so I eagerly look forward to the MAA Aust Army in WWI.
I don't know whether this is an editing error, but the picture of the three Aussies has been reversed, showing brims on the Hat KFF up on the right hand side, medal riband on the wrong side. I am sure this isn't the final copy?

The Chief,
You're right, this is probably a working cover using a plate from "The Australian Army At War 1899-1975". I think the real thing isn't even sketched yet.

A good list. The title on the Empress Dragoons will be particularly welcome to me. Presumably it is by the formidable Pawly/Courcelle team and it will complete their excellent series on the cavalry of Napoleon’s Imperial Guard.

Joe’s blog post reminds me that it was 40 years ago this month that I bought my first MAA title, which was one of the first four to be published. It was Martin Windrow’s book on the French Foreign Legion. 40 years later, not only is the MAA series still going strong but happily so is Martin Windrow and his splendid body of work on the Foreign Legion, whether for Osprey or other publishers. I see that a new Warrior title is due from him shortly. I much look forward to it.

Hello
Thanks very much for this preview of what seems a very exciting year for MAA.
I am particularly interested in the "The Portuguese in the Age of Discovery 1300–1580".
Portuguese military has a rich and diverse history and, sadly, has only been slightly dealt with in the past.
The armies that the Portuguese used to help create the first global empire in world history really deserved a book like this.
Can't wait to see it!
Best regards

I am from Colorado and the 10th mountain division got its training in the mountains. To a lot of people the 10th is an important part of Colorado history. In fact when the stat quarts was being issued, each to represent the state, a solder of the 10th was a suggestion, which sadly did not make it. There is usually lectures to be found at many local libraries and such each year about the divsion. I am very exited about this book, great chose Osprey.

The book on the 10th Mountain puts me back in mind of the divisional histories that were part of the original "Vanguard" series.

I can safely say I will be buying every single title on this 2012 list! Part 3 on the Soviets is a given to conclude the series but that is a really outstanding selection.

These are some great, and great looking titles. At the same time, I can't help but to notice the illustration for the cover of "Australian Army in World War I" appears to be reversed.

It is reversed... it is actually taken from an old Osprey book, as the artwork is not in yet - essentially it is a temp 'holder' cover.
