I really enjoyed working with Giuseppe Rava on "Constitution vs Guerriere: Frigates during the War of 1812" and "American Light and Medium Frigates 1794-1836." He really captured the controlled chaos on the deck of a sailing-era sea battle in his artwork.

"And is it just me, or is this artwork more than a little reminiscent of the work of a certain other artist, famous for his work in the Men-at-Arms series..."
You probably mean the late Angus McBride. Rava's art is equally colourful and spectacular, though not quite as "glossy" I suppose, but it isn't as obvious that he's self-taught (his figures are somewhat better proportioned than McBride's). IMO Rava is immediately behind Igor Dzis and Dmitry Zgonnik in the ranks of illustrators of military themes.
For something truly breathtaking, google "Augusto Ferrer Dalmau".
And I always felt that Vicente Segrelles didn't do as much military illustration as I would have liked him to; his work for juvenile illustrated books in the 1970s will forever remain unsurpassed.

This is truly amazing. If I might suggest to Osprey, while we're on the subject, if Dr. Amato could do a "Byzantine Armies 600-1060?"
While Romano-Byzantine Armies is fantastic, it is very tantalizing and does not go in depth into the Heraculian armies or even those of Justinian. Dark Age East Roman Armies weren't covered too much, and I feel like Eastern Rome is one of the most appealing subjects for your titles.
It's readily apparent Dr. Amato and Rava make a good time, I'd like to propose they do another East Roman title!
