I know you'll be passing all of Ospreys readership's condolences to his family.

I bought The Samurai Capture a King with my Xmas money and once again admired Richard's ability to capture the idiosyncracies of Samurai arms and armour.

Very sad

This past Christmas I gave a good friend of mine a copy of the OSS book that I wrote. She later told me how much she liked the artwork that Richard Hook adorned inside. Mr. Hook, thank you for blessing us with your illustrative talent. You shall be missed and never forgotten.

Very sad news indeed, he was an excellent artist. I have many of his Osprey books as well as a few others by different publishers. He will be missed.

Richard was brilliant. He will indeed be missed and we are thinking of all of his family and close friends in their loss. But special thoughts from the Osprey family to Adam and Christa. Their work is their own, but Richard also lives on in it.

Wow, I am shocked to hear of this. I was just reading the OSS Elite series book last week and marveling at his amazing artwork. He will truly be missed. RIP.

Please pass my condolences to his family and friends.

I am very sad to hear about the passing of Richard Hook. He was a great artist and his works on the Native Americans was some of his best work. My condolences go out to his family.

I worked with Richard over a period of 15 years and his beautiful illustrations graced the pages of many of my titles during that time. It will be hard working without him – but thankfully his wonderful talent lives on in his children. Rest in Peace, Richard.

I'm very sad to hear this. My condolences to the friends and relatives.

CAM 43 Fornovo 1495 was, IIRC, the first Campaign title to feature specially commissioned artwork, and after all these years, Richard Hook's colour plate on pp. 62-63 of this book remains my favourite ever artwork from an Osprey book.
