I note with great regret a drop in world war 2 titles next year in all series. I know that Osprey doesn't want a too heavy ww2 list but I would like to know if it's a long-term policy or just a bad year for this category.

Looks like some excellent titles next year.
I am really looking forward to Italian Army Elite Units and MACV-SOG Reconnaissance Team!

What exactly is ELI 186 Vietnam Infantry about? Is it a tactics book?

Glad to see a book dedicated to Italian special forces in WWII. Also I look forward to ANZAC infantryman (one of my favorite subject ever). Who are the autors and illustrators in charge?
So the only missing blog is about upcoming CAM titiles.

I'm curious about upcoming Essential Histories. Any news?

I will surely teke ELI 185 Medieval Cavalry Tactics and WAR 159 US MACV-SOG Reconnaissance Team in Vietnam (September 2011). Now I'm just curiuos to see the Campaign titles for the next year.

Some very interesting titles in both series.

I'm looking forward to purchasing Medieval Cavalry Tactics, Border Reiver, Anzac, Pirate and Desert Rat.

What I would like to see in the Elite Series is a couple of titles relating to the Victoria Cross and George Cross. After all, we have titles relating to the American, German and Russian equivalents.

There are some interesting tales to be told. For instance the two brothers (name of Seagrim) who were, posthumously, awarded the Victoria Cross and George Cross during World War 2. Their mother would have been the only person able to wear both medals at the same time.

Or, the three V.C's and Bar. All are linked. Arthur Martin Leake won his first in South Africa in 1900. He won his second in the First World War. Noel Godfrey Chavasse won his in the First World War. Both were Medical Officers and had a Regimental link (Arthur Martin Leake treated Noel Chavasse for the injuries for which he received his second, posthumous, award). Charles Hazlitt Upham (a New Zealander) won his during World War 2. He was distantly related to Noel Chavasse!

I look forward in getting the MACV-SOG Reconaissance team book next year and I want to say thank you, for remembering the Buffalo Soldiers, African Americans in World War 2 and showing Black soldiers in your series, You guys do it right and I was wondering would you do a series or a book on blacks who fought in European armies as well? I am sure there was a significant contribution.

WAR 156 Early Roman Warrior 753-3321 BC

Eh? Might be 753-31 BC actually?

Good titles, Medieval Cavalry Tactics, Prussian Napoleonic Tactics, Italian Army Elite Units, Bronze Age Greek Warrior, Border Reiver, ANZAC Infantryman & Desert Rat I would likely buy.

Martin Windrow's extensive research for Our Friends Beneath the Sands (highly recommended book btw) spins off to another Osprey title I must buy.
Sorry to see the Elite offerings be a bit sparse and hope they pick up. The Italian Army is the only "must have" for me as are WAR 155, 157 and ???. Not knowing the Campaign, EH, AofA and CA titles yet but I might be able to cut back a bit on my Osprey spending next year. Though I'm sure I'll be back up to breaking my budget in 2012. To everything there is a season, after all.
As an aside, I do agree that an Elite on VC winners is long overdue.

I'm still curious about ELI 186 Vietnam Infantry. Is it a tactics book or will it focus on US Army Infantry in Vietnam?

Sorry guys. To clarify:

ELI 186: Vietnam Infantry Tactics
WAR 156: Early Roman Warrior 753-321 BC

While there may not be too many World War II titles on these lists, that does not reflect a deliberate policy. In fact, across all of our series, World War II remains the single most heavily represented conflict in our publishing schedule and will likely remain so for the given future.

While we have no plans to do an Elite title on Victoria Cross winners, in November we are publishing a book called Extraordinary Heroes about the winners of both the Victoria and George Crosses. This book is being done in conjunction with the Imperial War Museum to correspond with the new collection that is being showcased.

i actually commend the fact that there aren't so many ww2 topics for once, it's not that everyone is interested in ww2/modern warfare. that said, i'm getting all Elite Tactics as well as the Border Reiver and MACV-SOG titles.

Everyone in my 15mm Prussian 2nd Corps is really looking forward to Prussian Napoleonic Tactics! Is this just Infantry tactics or about everyone? I'd love to see an Elite on Prussian Commanders of the Napoleonic Wars (was Blucher really mad?) and a New Vanguard on Prussian Napoleonic Artillery! Ah heck, I'm tempted by most of these titles and Pirates is a must have as I need refernce for our annual lowbrow Pirate art show!

well he wasn't really mad as much as he was crude. he was choleric, and he had a bad orthography and cursed a lot.
