I'm surprised that the compound Bow didn't make the cut, since the Huns, the Mongols, the Mamelukes, the Persians and the Turks all had it as their main weapon; and all had a massive impact on history.

Glad to see the hoplite spear there, but what was special about it (an 8ft spear is an 8ft spear) was its use in combination with the hoplite shield (aspis) in formations that were organised in a particular way. I think there is a more general point to be made here about the wider context in which individual, important or revolutionary weapons were used. To take a present-day example, the Libyan "revolutionaries" won't do any better with stae-of-the-art kit unless they are also trained and organised to use it properly.
