Check out our new e-book section!

Over the last six months or so we have been testing out a number of ebooks, and the system that we have been using to distribute them. After some extremely positive feedback from a number of you we have decided to launch a bespoke page for all of our e-books so that you can find them as easily as our normal books.

So, you will probably now notice a new tab on the left hand side of the website - marked "E-books store". Click on the tab and you will be taken straight to a page with all of the ebooks that we have available. Now that we have this page up and running smoothly we are going to be looking to add new ebooks to this page every month, so that more and more of our extensive list of books is going to be made available to you as a digital download.

Something that you might not know about our e-books is that once you have bought a copy of the book you can access it from anywhere in the world, providing you have access to a computer and the internet. All you need to do to get to your e-book is log in to your Osprey page, click on the e-book tab (located next to your Wishlist and Library tabs), click on your e-book and download it again, with no extra charge!

One of the other bits of feedback we got from you was the fact that it was a little complicated to purchase an e-book - so we have simplified matters and have added a second purchase button and price to all of the books that are available as e-books - which will make it a lot easier to buy an e-book, and much more obvious where a book is available in two different versions.

Congrats. This is an exciting development.
I have some additional questions:

1) What format is the ebook in?
2) If I wanted to print out a colour plate and/or some text would I be able to do that or is it protected by a DRM system that I would need authourization?
3) Can I download the book to a reader like Kimble, Sony, Iliad, etc and/or to my hard drive?

No problem Xavier - here are your answers! 1) They are Adobe PDFs. 2) You can print out sections from the book if required. 3) You can download and save the PDFs to your hard drive - but whether you can then save them to a reader will depend on whether you have the right software etc to do so. Some readers only support specific formats which may restrict how these can be used. Most of the current e-readers also only support black and white images - which is not great for our colour plates ;-(

Yeah it,s true that..for now... the readers can't display colour. But that's just a question of time :)
On a more serious note, will Osprey be open to collaborating with the various ebook manufacturers and e-ink.com?
