Here's a few I've got in mind:

Campaign Mexico City 1847 (The supporting cast alone makes this interesting!)
Campaign Queenston Heights 1812 (Including Brock's capture of Detroit)
Campaign Breitenfeld 1631 (Gustavus Adolphus' greatest victory)
Campaign Friedland 1807 (Nap and Alex hug it out on a raft on the Tilsit)
Campaign Rivoli 1796 (Napoleon's debut)
Campaign Imjin 1951 (The Glosters' epic stand)

Elite WWI Artillery Tactics
Elite WWII Allied Bombing Tactics

NVG British Frigates of the Napoleonic Wars
NVG French Ships-of-the-Line of the Napoleonic Wars
NVG British Sloops of the Napoleonic Wars (I admit, I've been reading Patrick O'Brian lately!)

That's about all I can think of right now.

Whoops! Sorry about that, I didn't read the directions all the way through before posting.

This is a good topic to ask for your readers views on, but I think that a greater focus on quality should be a priority as well as expanding the quantity of books. I've bought several Osprey books which contained obvious typos and mistakes that should have been picked up before they went to print.

My main concern is where some of Osprey's older titles are in need of update/expansion rather than trying to cover obscure gaps.
As an example (and has been discussed before) taking the older Campaign titles on Arnhem and Kursk and making these multiple volumes would be great.
The same thing applies to some of the New Vanguard series. I picked up the volume on the Churchill tank the other day, but put it back after realising that the style and plates are rather long in the tooth!

Re-doing books is always an option - either in a slightly different format (like the Raid title on Pearl Harbor) or in the sane format but updated like our re-do of Midway.

Only 5!! I agree with Enormous Stilton that the MOST obvious CAM's that need fixing are the early ones (France 1940, Kursk, Guadalcanal, Arnhem and Op.Bagration) and that is just WW2 stuff. There is a miniumum of 10 seperate titles needed to sort out just these five major campaigns. In addition the single volume Stalingrad title is probably the worst offender when it comes to trying to cover far too much in 96 pages followed by Cassino (although a much better book).

Thanks for your reply Mike. Re-doing some of these Campaign titles would be good to see, not only for new artwork etc, but surely from your point of view as a commercial concern. The titles like Kursk will sell far better than more obscure subject matter.

Hi guys,

I fully agree with Nick and Enormous Stilton that some of the older Campaign titles could do with a re-vamp. The obvious candidates for this treatment have already been laid out above and I’d certainly like to see Osprey updating some of the older ones from time to time over the coming years.

However, lets not forget what Mike asked for in the original post. He didn’t ask us to come up with obscure missing titles he asked for obvious gaps in the series, i.e. the big name battles and campaigns that have inexplicably been missed over the years. I can easily think of five or more glaringly obvious titles that have never appeared (I have them primed and ready to go when required) and I think you will agree they are certainly not obscure.

All in all I think there are still plenty of new Campaign titles to wade through to keep the series going for many years but I do agree that the occasional re-visit or re-vamp of the older titles wouldn’t go amiss from time to time.

Hi, Mike.

I think it´s a very good idea, as you I am disapointed about the position of Gladius in weapon series.

About the gasp spanish tercios was one of them, at last published in august 2012 Thanks a lot

Good post AdamC. I agree with what you're saying, and I'm probably being unfair about the obscurity thing. I'll be interested to see the lists people come up with.
Perhaps for every five brand new titles we could see a revamp of an older title.
As for the gladius vote, well I'm hoping for the Longbow! We often see the vote results going in an 'interesting' direction. I remember it being pointed out that repeat voting is an issue that can be spotted, but is there not a more reliable vote setup? I know cookies can help, but obviously the desperate individual can delete those! Could there not be some sort of vote based on registered users submitting a vote that is then logged for that month?

New Vanguard

T-64
Why? There are books for the T-54/55, T-62, T-72 and T-80, but not the other post-WWII Soviet MBT, the T-64.

M113
Why? An extremely common AFV, in service for 50 yars.

M1 Abrams
Why? The existing title is nearly 20 years old, and the M1 series has seen much development and combat since then.

COM

Israeli F-16 units
Israeli Attack Helicopter Units
Israeli F-4 units
Israeli Mirage/Nesher/Kfir units
Why? Important combat types, which would complement existing titles on Israeli units.

AV-8B Units in OEF/OIF
A-10A Units in ODS
A-10A Units in OEF/OIF
B-52 Units in OEF/OIF
F-16 Units in ODS
F/A-18 Units in ODS
A-6 Units in Vietnam
A-6 Units in ODS
F-111 Units
Why? Fill in gaps of major American combat types in the series

I would like to see an updated version of CAM - Omdurman 1898 (this one's been out of stock for a very, very long time!), and maybe CAM - Tel el-Kebir. Also, I think an Essential History on the entire Mahdist War would have been great! And maybe a Command title on Lord Kitchener?

Mike:

Here's my list of the top 5 overlooked Campaign battles

1) Madrid 1936- Franco fails to conquer the city and that prolongs the civil war
2) Biafra.I've heard of this war and the passions it aroused at the time. Why?
3) Ayachuco 1821:the battle that led to Spanish American independence
4) The Carlist wars.
5) 1965 Indo Pakistani war- the tank battles

Some additional suugestions:
1971 IndoPakistani war
Soviet ops in Afghanistan
Senussi rebellion 1911
Soviet civil war battles
Poland 1920: The miracle of the Vistula

When it's RAIDS turn I have some ideas for that series ;)

P.S. I absolutely agree that the older titles need a revamp whether it's new information or a reappraisal

The Ebro book comes to mind. The publication of Tarrdalles' diary within the 2nd volume of the Generalitat own diary of the Spanish civil war. Taradlles's dairy provides contemporary accounts and assessments of the Ebro battle that deserve to be incorporated in a revised edition of the Osprey booklet.

I´d like to read about the Battle of Camarón, involving 65 soldiers from French Foreign Legion, who fought againts 2000 mexican soldiers in 1863.
Antoher sugestion would be a book about the Battle of Riachuelo, one of the major naval battle in America, that ocurred in 1864, during the War of the Triple Alliance, a conflict that seconds American Civil War in casualties number (about 350.000 to 400.00 deads).
