I was browsing the web recently, and came across a link to this WWI dogfight game. It's free, it's fun, it's pretty quick to play through the 10 levels, and you get to shoot down a zeppelin...

A colleague recently encouraged me to read the Sci Fi classic Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein. I've not read a whole lot of Sci Fi, but I enjoy it when I allow for the indulgence and this was no exception. The plotline is a bit slow, with several long passages about the necessity of self-sacrifice in a civil, democratic society, but these were not unpleasurable and I very much appreciated the force of Heinlein's argument...

I was over in Los Angeles last week for Book Expo America where publishers, authors and everyone else meet to talk books. Whilst I was there I was lucky enough to meet Steven Pressfield, one of the best Historical Fiction authors out there. We talked about his latest novel - Killing Rommel...

If the story of Icarus teaches us anything, it is that man was not meant to fly. However, one 48-year-old Swiss former fighter pilot has a different opinion. Yves Rossy unveiled his self-made rocket pack this Wednesday, and proceeded to leap from an aircraft over the Alps and fly at speeds of up to 186 miles per hour, before parachuting back to earth. This stunt was the culmination of five years of training, and was the first public demonstration, in front of the world's press, of his invention...

Because we share the same corporate name, I've been following the deployment of the Bell Boeing MV-22 Osprey through Google Alerts. Today I received a link to this interesting story about the first female Osprey pilot. Very cool...

I am sure many of you will have heard by now the devastating news that Angus McBride has sadly passed away. I know how much everyone loved his work, and I thought you would like to see this fitting tribute to him in The Guardian.
