Counter-insurgency in the news

Various UK papers including the Times and the Telegraph commented yesterday on the criticism of counter-insurgency efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq as reported in the British Army Review. Featured amongst the serving soldiers and military experts who have expressed concerns about the UK's ability to fight this kind of war was Daniel Marston one of our authors. Daniel was co-editor on Counter-Insurgency in Modern Warfare which looked at the development of the concept and how armies have fought insurgents over the centuries. The book has been incredibly well received and has contributed to a debate which can only be ongoing.
