I'm on the wrong side of the world to look up the details, but I have in my collection at home 2 figures released in the 1980's that were direct copies (approved) from MAA 100 - Women at War 1939-1945. Both were German, Luftwaffe I believe, one with the dog, and the second was smoking a cigarette.

Joe:
I don't paint per se an Osprey minature. What I do is to kitbash a 1/6th scale figure based on the various colour plates. Lots of fun and a great challenge. My favourite kitbashes are those when andarmy faced a choatic period in its history like the French in Indochina from 1945-52 or Estonian Forest brothers (cf the last plates of Germany's Eastern European allies (2) the Baltics)

In fact, my next kitbash will be that of an Isralei PIAT gunner from the '48 war of Independence that's inspired from the colour plates from Men and arms and the Elite booklets on the Israeli army from 48-73 and Israeli elite forces since 48 respectively.

Alot of us 1/6th collectors are inspired by or try to copy as closely as possible the colour plates :)

if you want to paint your favourite osprey "figure" , look for figures by a company called "NEW HOPE DESIGN" , they produce figures from every men at arms volume covering all periods, the figures are 54mm white metal,

Ross – Thanks for pointing this out. I was actually unaware of New Hope Design and was disappointed to see that their website is currently down. We did apparently work with this company years ago, but I don’t believe we do any more.

Xavier – I would love to see a picture of one of your kitbashes if you would care to send along a photo.

Jen – Did these figure come painted? The company Del Prado has produced a lot of our artwork as 54mm painted miniatures, though I’ve never seen the ones to which you are referring. I suppose it is also possible they were products of New Hope Design.

Hi Joe,

They came unpainted, and were New Hope Design (I was trying to remember the company name, and Ross jogged my memory.) At the time I was a member of the Ontario Model Soldier Society and the Ottawa Military Minatures group (I'm sorry guys, it's been 20 years and the Ottawa name isn't correct)and was a pretty good basic level painter.

Ah, here we go:

From the New Hope Design website:

WOMEN AT WAR 1939 - 1945 (MAA # 100)
MA0113 Flakwaffenhelferin, 1944

MA0114 Fuhrerin, Stabshelferinnen, with guard dog, 1944

(What a great site.... I think I'm going to take up painting again...)
