Also in the 1950's had a a B-36 Peacemaker crash in the north of British Columbia that had nukes aboard and no one has found them yet unless they were secretly taken out but story is one at least was dropped into the ocean.

The lost nuke is a great story because it highlights the decision function of cost and risk. In the case of this weapon the risk is minimal for at least 100 years. The weapon itself is buried so deeply in silt that it can't be detected with equipment we currently have. It might be possible to find it with future radar systems but the radiation it gives off is so diminished by the time it hits the surface that it is less than normal background radiation. Several surveys were done to find it none have.

It it were to go off early, before being found and destroyed, it would destroy a major center of ocean going commerce. The chance of this is so low that the cost in finding it by really careful dredging outweighs it.

I wonder if the Finders Keepers law still stands if you salvage a working thermonuclear device?
