Steve Carell to play Brigadier Gerard?

I read today that Steve Carell, of US Office, 40-Year-Old Virgin and Get Smart fame is to play Brigadier Gerard the fantastic hero of the short stories of Arthur Conan Doyle.

For those who have never read them, Gerard is an incredibly brave and fantastically stupid Hussar in the French army during the Napoleonic wars. The stories are great.

Half of me is looking forward to the idea, the other half filled with dread...

... how bad can it be?

Well as a huge fan of the Conan Doyle I can only welcome this news and just hope they don't do the shows on a shoestring budget,and,that they get the uniforms right. Steve Carell will be OK
