While the Redcoat painting indeed bears Christmas colors, Angus McBride's Scandinavian picture much more closely depicts the message of the season, with the love of children and the knight searching the skies for the Star of Bethlehem. How can drunken reveling Redcoats or card players and tavern wenches even begin to compete with that?

I would go for the Redcoat officers card. It's the one that represent the most the idea of celebration and friendship. The predominance of red colour is also reminding Christmas. In fact, it really looks like a Christmas card !

I would have to go for the Embleton piece, of the redcoats toasting King George. It is the most "Christmasy", colour-wise and also in terms of the merriment shown. While I love the Angus McBride painting, I'm not sure how appropriate it really would be as a Christmas card!

I would like to see the Angus McBride piece from Medieval Scandinavian Armies (1) 1100-1300. It is the only one adults (parents) & children together - which to me is the most - family.important aspect of the holiday.

I would like to vote for the Embleton painting with the officer toast. They have the festive spirit, whther they be toasting the holidays or the King, before they march off to the massacre! To the King, good fellows!

Redcoat Officers! It's easily the most 'seasonal' of the three, and the one I'd most like to have a print of on my wall. (Don't get me wrong--they're all great, but neither ale-soaked cardplayers or Vikings just back from fundraising in the British Isles really qualifies calls the spirit of the season to mind...)

All three are a stretch for Christmas, but of the three, although i pefer Angus McBride's Pub scence the most, i think Gerry Embleton's Redcoat officer would best represent a Christmas card.

Though I find the McBride offering reminding me of my childhood loafing around a table littered with Christmas sweets, I feel that the Embleton piece, with its brilliant reds and joyous officers, reminding me that what makes one cheer most at the holidays is to be with ones family! So I must choose the Embleton piece.

I should like to vote for the Redcoat Officer art work for the following reasons; The colours are most "seasonal". Also the firelight and obvious camraderie of the toast and Finally but not least the complete absence of weapons in the picture which means it cannot offend anyone and also points towards the peace and goodwill to all men sentiment of the Christmas season! 'Redcoat Officers' by Gerry Embleton shall be my vote. It does seem to be the most festive of the three offered. No snow in any pictures but the colors in 'Redcoat Officers' seems to give the impression of warmth by the hearth at the same time the dark background feels like cold dark winter. Definitely the closes one depicting a Christmas setting, although all three are wonderful.

I am in the minority, but I vote for the first McBride, Elite 25: Soldiers of the English Civil War (1) Infantry. It has a warm, cozy fireplace, music & friendship, some of the elements that make us think of the holidays. I think that the Embleton one, though lovely, is a bit harsh and monochromatic for Christmas.
