To be absolutely honest, I really couldn't understand why you thought that military history was going out of fashion in the first place.

True, in some countries and in some schools, it may not be taught to a great extent.

However, whilst there remains a committed core of military historians and enthusiasts, there's always going to be scope for improving the teaching of military history to the young (Being 17, I can see that a lot of people get genuinely interested when military history is being taught (especially amongst males, for obvious reasons).

I saw one post for a teacher, and that proves to my mind that there are still enough educational officials with a passion for military history and therefore, whilst I can't see the overall situation of military history necessarily improving for the time being, I can never see it 'dying out'. :)

I do not think it has gone out of fashion is military history has just reached an equilibrium with other interest. This is especially the case with the young who see things such as computer games, SF/Fantasy etc far more appealing than military history. However, the field is booming in the academic world. As I have written here:

http://militaryhistorythoughts.blogspot.com/2007/05/military-history-in-united-kingdom.html

The number of institutions offering Military History type course has increased since 2001.

I think you're right - and I'm also encouraged to see that the internet is providing a core, and more immediate forum to debate the burning issues of military history. A forum which continues to flourish and can only encourage the subject to be seen as something important to study, and to learn more about the world and its lessons than they may initially think.
