Richard:
I concour. For example, the booklet on the Guerillas of the Peninsular war is great but it does overlook an important precursor: the miqueletes or the Catalan mountain riflemen (fusellers de la muntanya) seemed to have engaged in small war tactics in the late 1600s.
According to Catalan historians the 80 years of continious conflicts in Catalunya (1640-1714) created a military expertise in'unconventional warfare' that wasn't totally forgotten

I agree a book on Portugese Army on Western Front WW1 is well over due. Having visited the country several times I know there is quite a lot of material out there. For anybody visiting lisbon I would recomend a trip to the military musuem. It contains a lot of items from the peninsular war.
Btw any chance of a book about Talavera?
