August 21, 2009 12:00 AM
This week sees the official UK launch of Battles of World War II, a landmark book collection that chronicles the major military events of World War II. If you live in the UK, you will probably have noticed the extensive TV campaign currently running to promote the collection of 52 books on the greatest battles of the Second World War.

These books are hardback versions of some of our best Campaign series titles, packed with our usual high quality text, iconic artwork and highly accurate maps and bird’s-eye-views.

The series begins with the German invasion that swept through Poland in September 1939 (originally published as Campaign 107 Poland 1939) and follows the full history of the war, on land, sea and air as it spread across Europe, Africa, Asia and into the Pacific, detailing the six years of bitter conflict that enveloped the globe.

Only checked out book 1 and book 3 so far, book3 should have been book 2 imo as it was about the invasion of norway. Well book 1 was excellent, book 3 has also been well written but as for the printing this was poor.smudging across some pages and some pages are duplicated. There is the same map display twice in the book, I suspect a map is missing and replaced with a duplicate in error. Not worth collecting the series with this poor standard.

Many thanks for getting in touch and we have been made aware with the problems concerning the Denmark and Norway volume. If you email us editorial@ospreypublishing.com and supply your contact details we will send you a supplement with the correct map printed in it. I am also sorry to hear that you also received a volume which has smudges on some of the pages. We will be also able to supply you with a replacement volume if you would like one.

Delighted to learn of the great offer you are extending to UK customers. But what about non-UK customers ? Where can we get hold of the series, and at what price ?

I have enjoyed the series so far. Books 1 to 5 have been excellent.
However I was extremely dissapointed on purchasing book 6, Tobruk 1941.
The book has a major printing flaw. Pages 33 through to 48 have been printed twice within the book.. Pages 49 through to 64 are in turn missing.
I feel this is not good enough. On purchasing the books in store you do not have a chance to check the quality of the printing due to the packaging.
I want to collect this series, but the printing group has let you down.

Denzer, this product is actually not being managed or printed by Osprey they are just using our material - so unfortunately we cannot comment on quality or printing errors. But if you have had some problems, I do urge you to get in touch with the company who have been printing these titles either via their website http://www.ospreybattleseries.com/ or by emailing them on osprey@dbfactory.co.uk - they will be able to handle your enquiries.
Paul - unfortunately, at present this product is only available in the UK. As I mentioned above, this is actually being done by another company using our material, and at present they have only chose to release the set in the UK. Again though, do feel free to pass your comments on to them direct via the contact details listed above.

I am currently really enjoying reading this series of books and I am looking forward to further issues. Aside from the occasional error I must complement the writers and Osprey on this series. The only disappointing aspect is that there will only be 52 issues - there seem to be quite a few gaps in the series e.g. Barbarossa, Malta etc. In addition, a lot of the major naval engagements don't seem to be covered. I realise that Osprey aren't managing or printing this current series. I note that Osprey has previously published further WW2 titles, so I will have to track these down in due course. I suppose the possible thinking behind only 52 issues was that any more would be too unwieldy as a marketing exercise. Anyway, I look forward to future Osprey titles - keep up the good work.
