To be honest Sweeney's programme was a disgrace, full of loaded questions and suspect reasoning. I'm sure you could find far right views being espoused by other groups of individuals, maybe dressed as British Army, or just down the pub.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh - another ethics challenge. After 30 years of wargaming, or so, I still have "conscience" or ethics attacks from time to time. These have been compounded by the behaviour of some as well. I don't think we need to look far to find some pretty fringe views amongst some wargamers and re-enactors.

Whilst it is true that you can find a diversity of views, even out to the far right, in amongst any group, the fact that they are amongst re-enactors says something to the greater community of "not only are these guys views extreme, but they appear to live those views as well!"

Sigh - another ethics attack coming on. The last one was in May this year - http://thomo.coldie.net/wargames/wargame-ethics/ - but this is a little tow quick for another one.

Thomo, just read and appreciated your ethics attack...

Naval warfare and the ancient world: have you gamed Salamis? If so I'd love to know how it went, and if so how you positioned the Persian fleet at the start? There are at least two interpretations of the quite lean resources.

RE "week end Nazis" as the man said you will find extremist views in most cross sections of any group or society .The point about this film is there are people within this group who have found an out let for those views.Plus it seems to me as time goes by peoples view of history becomes clouded, the young man who thwas interviewed hanging ouot of a personel carrier is of different genration who have seen history from an entirely different point of view .All due respects but his parents did not fight or live through the war as mine did.And that as far as I am concerned is the whole nubb of the problem.Wargamers like myself do not close our eyes to what happened but I do feel it is our duty to educate and encourage those that follow to study history ,after all "What is past is prologue",.

Hi William - no - I've not done Salamis yet - but I have contemplated it. To be honest, the pre-dreadnought and World War I naval periods have really focussed my attention lately.

Mind you, I may just scrap up my half completed scenario for the Battle of Ecnomus and finish it after your comments :-)
