I’m pretty excited by this series. Will the raid series have colour plates like a Men-At-Arms series or more like a Campaign series colour plates and how many pages will the book be overall?

Thank you for your feedback. We love the idea of doing a Viking raid and Pegasus bridge we already have in the pipeline. This book will publish in 2010 so look out for it.

The artwork will include a combination of some of the following depending on the subject: bird's eye view maps, battlescenes, cutaway artwork and figure plates. The books will be 64 pages.

We will also launch a new mini-site for the series which will give sneak peaks of some of the artwork and more info about each book so I will keep you posted for when this launches in the next couple of months.

Dare we hope for a title on Rogers' Rangers at St. Francis and one on (be still, my heart) Sened Pass?

Son Tay and Eben Emael. Good examples worth titles.

I would love us to do a Raid title on Eben Emael. Unfortunately we did cover most of it in the Fortress title of the same name. However, we could look into re-visiting the subject in a couple of years time. I am also keen on doing a book on raids in the French-Indian war and have had a number of authors suggest it. However, I am a bit concerned about doing a raid title that is essentially just a massacre. What are your thoughts?

I like all the subjects of the future Raid books. I noticed a few I had suggested. I'm still hoping to see some books on the Jamestown Massacre, the Storming of Bastille and Harpers Ferry Raid, since I consider these three events were pivotal to history.

In response to books on massacres, I feel that if it was a military action, it should be covered, especially if it was an important event. However, I'm very wary that Indian massacres that will be covered will only be about Americans killing Indians. People tend to forget such massacres as the Mabila Massacre, the Acoma Massacre, the Pueblo Revolt, the Deerfield Massacre, and other such massacres that involved Spanish/Mexican, French/Canadian and Native Americans. This is also why I think the North-West Rebellion deserves a book from Osprey, since it is a misnomer that Canada never had friction with local tribes.

The navy seems to be missing. How about Gunther Prien's U-47 attack on Scapa Flow, the Japanese torpedo boat attack on Port Arthur on Feb.8-9, 1904 that opened the Russo-Japanese War, the attack by the Swordfish from HMS Illustrious on the Italian fleet in Taranto, or Decatur's raid to re-capture the U.S.S. Phiadelphia in Feb. 1804? What about some raids that miscarried for the attackers like the "Blackhawk Down" incident in Mogadishu, the Schweinfurt raids, or Dieppe?

This sounds a great serries, especially looking forward to Entebbe and Cabanatuan this year and Gran Sasso in 2010. There are some great suggestions mentioned as well such as St Francis, Port Arthur and Mogadishu. If memory serves was there not a campaign tittle planned about Tarranto? Has this been shelved permanantly or could it be resurerected in the future. I also seem to remember that there was one planned for the Battle of the River Plate, has that sunk as well? (apologies for the pun!!)

Another suggestion dealing with operation Bluecoat on 30 july 1944 when three german self propelled antitank jagdpanther (Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 654) attacked Scot Guards tanks atop hill 226 and knocked out 13 British tanks in this single engagement. I think that R.A Forczyk, in my opinion one of the best Osprey's authors, would be the perfect choice for writing this book.

I'd like to see titles covering Son Tay - North Vietnam, the St. Nazaire Raid - France 1942, and the SAS raid on Pebble Island.

We have a number of Raid titles to work on at the moment, but it is great to hear more ideas for future books – thank you for all your comments. For those of you that want to see some navy titles, we will be publishing books on Zeebrugge and also The Cockleshell Raid in 2010. Gangster, we will also be publishing a book on the Los Banos raid next year.

I suggest an air raid:
the Osirak nuclear plant in iraq (1981) by Israeli Air Force.

Nice to see Zeebrugge and the Cockleshell raid coming in 2010. I've just been sorting out my dvds and was going to suggest Cockleshell. I was also wondering about the Raid on Telemark and also the Z Special Forces raids on singapore: Ops Jaywick and Rimau. Whilst on the subject how about a Elite title on Z special Unit?

The 1704 Deerfield Raid & the 1759 St. Francis Raid were both briliant 18th. century commando style military operations. Both worthy & deserve to be published in any objective, serious and complete Raid series.
Lindisfarne and Drake at Cadiz in 1587 would make execellent Raid series.
Looking forward to The Zeebrugge Raid & Grierson Raid books, thank you for including them in the Raid series.
