Collecting Osprey books is one of my passions in life. The amazing artwork is probably the key reason. I went with my fiancée to a bookshop today so that I could pick out the usual selection of Osprey titles that I wanted for Christmas. Inspired by the artwork shown above I picked up a copy of Campaign St Mihiel 1918 only to discover that the central figure with the pistol was obscured in the middle of the fold. For me this ruined a great piece of artwork and greatly put me off picking that title. Instead I chose Messines 1917. This title also had artwork split over two pages but no key feature seemed to be lost. Another example of artwork being spoilt by being split over would be the Campaign title on Towton where the great depiction of a knight piercing a foot soldiers helmet with a war hammer is obscured. Just thought I'd flag this up and perhaps see what other people thought.
