As a War of the Roses Re-enactor I can definitely recommend Bosworth as a great place to visit. The Re-enactment of the battle in the summer is one of the best o take part in and I'm sure to watch. When I'm there this year I intend to take a look at what is now considered the actual site. From the look of the photos in this blog it would seem that the visitor centre has improved since last I visited. By the way if you want to actually get to hold some of the replica weapons you see in the photos above turning up at War of the Roses Federation events would be a good idea as most re-enactors have no problem with members of the public having a hold or trying things on.

Surely the discovery of the body of Richard III and all the other new information around his death plus the revision of the site of the battle would make it worthwhile updating CAM 66. There is clearly a great deal of interest in this right now and with Richard's body due to be re-intrurred in Leicester Cathedral in 2014 a revision must be worth the investment.

Bosworth Battlefield visitor centre had a major revamp about 4 years ago, however the problem is now that the centre and the surrounding 'battlefield' walks are now in the wrong place and all the signs have had to be changed from how I remember them in the 1970's.

Seeing this post again with the snow turning to sludge outside, it was nice to have a reminder of a pleasant early summer afternoon in the fields of Leicestrshire, and the unfolding story of the Leicester car park has been enthralling. But what a shame Channel 4 did so little justice to it in their "King in the Car Park", choosing to favour soapy emotion and contrived tension over the real substance of a very successful piece of historical, archaeological and forensic research!
