At the risk of seeming like some sort of correction policeman - really, I'm not, I am actually a nice fellow, or so someone once told me - honest :-), I feel I should note that:

GHQ make a range of 1/2400th scale vessels.
Panzerschiffe are moulded in grey resin whilst Navwar and GHQ are in metal (indeed, added to those ranges for WWII vessels you could include Skytrex in 1/3000th and then the Figurehead range in 1/6000th scale). There are a series of 1/1200th and 1/1250th scale manufactures, such as Triton, that also make vessels but they are really expensive.

And on the matter of Victory at Sea, I really was disappointed in the opening paragraph of the web-page advertising the rules (http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/detail.php?qsID=1314&qsSeries=41) that said:

"The Second World War saw naval warfare evolve from the clash of mighty dreadnaughts, which had been the preoccupation of navies for half a century, to a conflict dominated by the aircraft carrier and submarine"

The original ship was HMS Dreadnought, the class of vessels was known as dreadnoughts, that's dreadnoughts with an 'o', even in America. Sigh. Such a disappointing error in the opening paragraph.

I will likely have a look at the rules in the future, when the pay cheque comes in, unless the General Quarters 3 WWI rules are released in the meantime.

In addition to these fine miniatures, may I recommend the 1/6000 scale naval miniatures from Figurehead. I still have the 1/1200 scale balsa miniatures that I made for the old Fletcher Pratt rules that were taken from the Jane's drawings that I did back in the 60's. I had many a fine game with them under those large scale & primitive gaming conditions. However as rules have evolved & the reach of these rules covers a broader battle area, I find that a smaller scale is needed to play them. These Figurehead miniatures are just the ticket, affordable to those of us on retirement incomes & easily transportable, yet they have enough detail that when painted they appeal to the eye. I find they bring Naval battles into the table top range.
