Specific books on the Cossacks (16th to 18th centuries)

Sarissa

I realize Osprey published a title on the Cossacks once, but there is so much to be explored in this subject that a number of titles can be covered - all equally colourful, dramatic and fascinating. For example, a title on the Zaporozhian Cossacks of the late 16th century to 1775 (immortalized by Gogol's novel Taras Bulba). This would cover their many and varied wars and raids from Poland to the Ottoman Empire. Excellent warriors and very well armed! Then there can be titles on individual personalities and campaigns e.g. the Ukrainian Cossack uprising of Bohdan Khmelnytsky (1648-57), the rebellions of Stenka Razin (1670s) and Yemelyan Pugachev (1773-74) against the Russian government. These were all major upheavals and the last two an important part of Russian history.

I like the above suggestions and I would also like Osprey to cover the Caucasus region wars.

Yes, in this Eurocentric Western world of ours, the history of peoples east of the Carpathian Mountains and into Central and South Asia are grossly ignored and ill-revered. All those who wanna see more titles covering the armies of the Caucasus nations, Cossacks, Medieval Persia, the Classic Mayans, Ancient and Classic Andean cultures, Ancient and Medieval India, let's say "AYE"!
