Speaking about new Renaissance books...
cold0
Hello! I have recently bought the Scottish Renaissance Armies 1513–1550 and I’m quite pleased with the book. I have a fond interest for the Western Renaissance Military History and I have practically bought all the Osprey titles concerning this period (Flodden 1513, Pavia 1525, Malta 1565, Tudor Knights, The French Religious Wars 1562–1598, The Ottoman Empire 1326–1699, The Conquistador, Henry VIII's Army, The Landsknechts, Polish Winged Hussar 1576–1775 just to name some of them). I even seen a proliferation of books about the Samurai and Orient Warfare (some seem redundant to me) and I would ask if, in the future, we could see more books on the Western Warfare Renaissance. I know the Osprey is, for necessity, Anglo-centric and most readers are from US-UK but I hope that this historical period could be interesting for everyone. Specifically I should like to see books about the Italian Wars and the warriors of this period. Titles as Ravenna, Marigliano, Pinkie or Mohac [Campagin] and French Gendarme, Spanish Tercio, German Reiter for example could cover this interesting and neglected period.

Its great to hear that you would like us to do more Renaissance books. That is definitely something we would like to cover too, in particular we would like to complete our coverage of the Italian Armies of the Medieval period with a book on the 16th century.

I would like to tell that there is a great gap regarding XVI century,be there are no campaign books about estern Europe,I would like to see books about battle of Orsza1514,ignes of Ivan the III and Ivan the IVTerrible/ only one book about this subject does not cover the whole period. There should be elite book on Strelets,Rn cavalery of XVI-XVII century,It is the highest time to issue more books on this neglected subject.

I agree more Renaissance books. Can i plug a request for something onr the French Wars of Religion, this would sit nicely with the Essential Histories book and would fill the gap for something wargaming based. A book like this could cover decline of Gendarmes, Reiter tactics, Pike and shot tactics and there are easily enough pitched battles to use for specific examples. Think it would be a big seller !

Thank you for your suggestions JezT and andronik, I will pass these thoughts on to my Editorial colleagues for consideration. Osprey would like to publish more books on the Renaissance period and we are keen to hear ideas from our readers.

Would it be possible to have a title on the Spanish Tercios? I think it is definetly missing on the XVI & XVII MAA or Warrior Series. And keeping on dreaming maybe a title on Saint Quentin battle?.

Hello Gond, thank you for your comment. I can pass your idea on to our editors, and am keen to see if other Osprey readers would like to see books on these titles – please let us know by posting a response!

Ever since reading "Tudor Knight" I've been interested in the tactics and appearance of the fighters in that period, so I was obviously happy to read the new "Scottish Renaissance Armies" book (especially since Graham Turner did the plates, he's always good). I'd be very interested in additional Campaign or Men-At-Arms books in this period. "French Gendarme" sounds like it would be interesting, as presumably it would include some info on the "Compagnies d'ordonnance".
