Question to Osprey! baffling gaps in coverage...why?

gainward20000

Hi,

I was just wondering why there are 3 massive gaps in osprey's otherwise super coverage of certain topics. Its bugged me for years so im hoping that finally, an Osprey staff member can assist me. First off, why are there no men at arms books on the Swedish army of the great Northern war.I.e. the 1700s. Considering Sweden was a major power at the time and that 2 excellent titles were done on Peter the Great's army, its a wee bit mysterious. The brief coverage of the Swedish army in the Poltava Campaign title does not do justice to the scope and depth of the topic.

Secondly, why are there absolutely no titles on the armies of Iran c. 1500-1800?(The Safavid periods etc). iran was argubly the next greatest power in teh middle east after the ottoman Empire and fought numerous wars with it and Russia. Shouldnt there be some coverage on the topic? Authors shouldnt be hard to come by. Im sure David Nicolle or Ian heath could do a superb job of it.

Lastly, why are there so few renaissance era men at arms titles? There is nothing on the Holy Roman Empire 1500-1700. There is nothing on italian renaissance armies, Spanish/Hag renaissance armies, French renaissance armies or Dutch and Scandinavian armies!!!

Im sorry if the post was too long but im hoping that you would do these titles in future and im sure that Im not the only customer with these questions.

Thank You!!!

Dear Sir,
If OSPREY would publish titles on these Swedish armies, Persian armies
and Renaissance armies I would cerainly buy them. I am looking for material on Catherina the Great's Army led by the competent Suvorow myself.
Good suggestions!

Hello all, thanks as ever for your comments. Here at Osprey we have a list of titles and subjects that we are keen to cover, and I will make sure that your suggestions are being considered by our editorial team. It can sometimes be difficult to find the perfect author for a topic but we are focused on producing titles that excite and interest all our readers, and of course this means filling gaps that may exist in our catalogue. Hopefully, in time, we can publish a large number of books that are suggested to us by military history fans such as you.
