1850-1939 Spain's post imperial adventures

xavierb

Dear Osprey:

As a follow up to new French empire request, I'd like to see Spain's post imperial adventures. It appears that Spain was haning on to France's coattails because Spain made a small contribution to the capture of Vietnam/Indochina, fought in Morocco (where General Prim plays an important role), then again in Mexico (but for different reason from France and again Prim is decisive)

it's certainly a colour period in Spanish history and one that would mark 20th century Spanish politics between the 'continentalists' and the 'Africans'

I totally agree with Xabier. There are several episodes in 19th century Spanish History, for example, the shelling of Valparaiso and Callao for Spanish Navy which they would be very interesting to be published in Osprey. It would highlight not only the capacities of Spanish Army and Navy but how the diplomatic decissions taken by England and France contributed to restrict the objectives of such interventions. Alberto
