Aircraft of the Aces missing titles

AdamC

Hi Osprey

I seem to recall a while ago that you asked about titles which your readers thought were missing from the various series. Ive been a big fan of Aircraft of the Aces for many years and there are two "missing titles" that I can think of.

The first is Russian Aces of World War 1. There were at least 19 Russian pilots that scored 5 or more kills and I think this would make a really interesting title.

The second is Aces of the Spannish Civil War. Scores of pilots on both sides from various nationalities scored 5 or more kills and im sure this deserves a volume or two in the series. I seem to remember that its been sugested a couple of times in the "books id like to read section" over the last couple of years.

Anyway. Theres just a couple of ideas. All the best! PS really looking forward Buffalo Aces in January!

Another title would be Lowland Aces of WWII. The Belgians and Dutch had several and if combined, I believe they would be able to fill a book. Plus, I just want a good cover art of a Fokker D.XXI, lol.

Good call Duck88. I dont think there were enough Dutch and Belgian aces to fill their own volume (I dont think their were any Dutch aces at all to be honest) but how about; "Belgian, Dutch, Norwegian and Danish Aces of WWII"??? If you throw in occupied Norway and Denmark then you deffinatly have an Aircraft of the Aces title covering all the occupied countries of western Europe. Of course all their aces would have flown with the RAF as Free Forces.

Three Dutch aces, but yeah most of these aces scored while flying for the RAF, though some scored the first of their victories in their own nation's air force. A few Messerschmitts fell to Fokkers.

Four Dutch aces!!! I didnt know that! You learn something every day, lol! Who were they??? Ive heard of a guy scoring four kills (including two 109s) flying the twin boom Fokker G1 and there were quite a few Dutch pilots who scored 1-3 kills on the D.XXI before Holland surrendered. I seem to remember hearing something ages ago about Canadian/Dutch pilot scoring approx 7 kills in Spits with the RCAF but I carnt remember his name. Tell me more!!!!

Hi, sorry to post a comment in the middle of your exchange but Adam C I thought you'd be interested to hear that we have a book on Fiat CR.32 Aces of the Spanish Civil War in the pipeline for publication next year.

http://www.acesofww2.com/netherlands/Netherlands.htm Hi Adam, the URL above takes you to a page showing the 3 Dutch aces (and one who almost made it). The page also has links to info on the war over Holland in 1940 and the Dutch East Indies as well.
