Suggesting some over-looked ideas

Tuomas K

Hello!
I'd love to see more books about Finland's military history. Especially in Campaign would be very suitable to cover :
The Finnish Civil War 1918,
Winter War 1939-40,
the Continuation War 1941-44 and
the Lapland War 1944-45.
Talking to many foreigners here in Finland, they don't seem to have any idea about the complex political and military situation of Finland in 1939-45.

I'm an amateur illustrator myself, how could I offer you my services?

Don't be too upset about foreigners being shaky on Finland's History I'd bet most of them couldn't tell you very much about their own countries history of anything that happened more than 20 years ago!!!,thanks to Politically Correct History taught in school nowadays.Remember on the 200 anniversary of Trafalgar most British schookids had no idea what it was about!!!

I think the only book covering Finland in World War 2 is "Finland at War 1939–45" (Elite 141), which covers the Winter War, the Continuation War and the Lapland War - and much more.

But then again, I'm sure there could be some excellent titles in campaign that could cover some very interesting battles during this time. I'd also like to see a Warrior title on Finnish soldiers.

There's a 'Fortress' title on the Mannerheim Line as well - in the post on its way as we speak (I hope).

MAA 131 Germany's Eastern Front Allies (1) does have some information on Finland but not that much.

I agree as well and what about the 18th century Great Nordic War between Peter and Charles that made the Russian Empire expand westward and was the demise of Sweden as a Baltic Empire. There is only MAA about Peter's troops and a Campaign book about Poltava.

I have purchased "Germany's Eastern Front Allies 1941–45" and "Finland at War 1939–45", of which the latter I found somehow "strange".

Ever notice how there is always a series of suggestions all relating to one nation from a poster of said nation?

That being said, I would enjoy a book about the Finnish Civil War. I always laugh about the Allies reaction. They honestly thought the Germans and White Finns would invaded Murmansk and Archangel.
