Napoleon´s foreign troops

Roberto león

It would be quite interesting a series of books about Napoleon´s foreign troops. Perhaps, in men at arms series.
Swiss regiments, Italian tropps(Légion Piédmontese, Legion du Midi, Tirailleurs du Pô, etc). Germans(Régiment la Tour D´Auvergne, Régiment D´Isembourg, Régiment de Prusse, Régiment de Westphalie, Légion Hanovrienne). Poles(Legion du Nord, Légion de la Vistula, Krakus). Holland(Bataillons Expéditioaries des Indes, Régiment de Walcheren, etc). Légion Irlandaise. Légion Portugaise. Spanish troops and Régiment Lithuanien.

In Campaign Series, It would be interesting: Walcheren 1809. Buenos Aires 1807, Bergen-op-Zoom 1814.

In Men at arms, Würtenberg troops and published the Napoleonic books that are sold out now.

Thanks a lot

Roberto

Hi Roberto, thank you for contacting us about your interest in the Napoleonic era. We have published many Napoleonic titles over the years, but it is a popular period and one that we are still publishing new titles on. This year you may wish to keep a look out for ‘Nelson’s Officers and Midshipmen’ (WAR) and ‘Mounted Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard’ (MAA). In 2010, you may also want to read the first title in a new series we are launching... With regards to the reprinting of books that are sold out, we are reprinting more books now – do look out for announcements on the Osprey blog, and keep checking the online store for your favourites to see if they are back in stock.

I couldn't agree more. While I - like everyone else on the forum - am waiting in vain for the Wurtembergers, Russian specialists, Prusian guns etc. etc. I can also understand Ospreys desire to keep publishing ever more in depth titles on every platoon that ever came within a mile from the little Corsican himself... They seem to sell out almost before they're printed!

But Robertos ideas are books that fall well into that pattern of detailed studies of the French. Authors, artists and buyers would be queing up for them! And they would be filling a gap.

There are countless topics we would love to publish books on, and hopefully in time we will be able to produce increasing numbers of books that our readers have said they'd like to see. Interest in the Napoleonic Wars is always strong so I'm sure many people would like to read Osprey books on the topics that Roberto has suggested.
