Naval Elite Units
MarkL
After reading the Raid title on Zeebrugge and doing some follow up on the Dover Patrol, I was struck by a new series idea (not that Osprey has a shortage of those) : Naval Elite Units. This could cover formal organizations and informal groupings. Possible ideas like the La Decima MAS units of Italy, the 10th submarine flotilla, Dover Patrol and assorted destroyer and cruiser squadrons from both world wars and assorted nationalities, Force K, Force H, the Inshore Squadron, Confederate raiders, German Commerce Raiders from both world wars and the K-Verband. The time period spread could extend from sail to present day. Thoughts?

I feel most of the worlds naval special forces have been covered by the Elite series itself and developing a separate series on naval special forces would be a waste of space

Thanks Captain but you've misunderstood what I was looking for. The series I envisioned would have been similar to AEU which looked at particular airforce squadrons. Not a collection of books about Special Forces units in the World's navy but specific units (for example British Pacific Fleet or Destroyer Squadron 23 in the USN, Nelson's frigates)
Thanks for your input though

Sounds a good idea to me. I enjoyed the Zeebrugge and Cockleshell books.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. some of what you've suggested would be great for the Battle Orders series one idea I have would on the U.S. Navy's Mobile Riverine Forces during the Vietnam War.
