Dunkirk campaign book
AdamC
Hi Osprey!
Amazon has a campaign book for Dunkirk 1940: Operation Dynamo that is said to be out in March 2010 but its not yet on your upcoming titles page. Is it still due out in March 2010 or has it been delayed???
PS. Any more news on River Plate 1939 and Taranto 1940??? I enquired about them a while ago and you said they had both been delayed, any more word on them???

On a related Amazon/Campaign title note, I noticed Midway 1942 scheduled for release in Sept 2010. Is this accurate and is this an revised or redone version of the older title? If this a redo of the older title I'd be curious to know if others are in the pipeline(ie Kursk) and other reader's feelings on new campaigns versus new versions of older ones.

Yep - It was mentioned in a blog post last year that Midway is being revised and republished. I think the same post also said that this happened only very rarely!

If the Dunkirk book is being published, I plan to add it to my collection. I have a personal interest in this Operation.

Out of curiosity, what is being revised in the Midway edition?

Chindit623 - Me too, my Great Uncle was captured at Dunkirk while serving with the York & Lancs (they formed part of the rear guard around the town despite being a service battalion). He managed to escape shortly after capture and was hidden by a French family for a time. My family has a letter written by the French families young daughter in broken English saying that he was ok (how it was got out of France I dont know!). Unfortunatly he was re-captured shortly afterwards. He was hiding in a hay stack which was searched at bayonet point by the Germans and he had to give himself up. He spent the next five years in Stalg VIIIb (now in Poland) POW camp being made to work in a coal mine (he was a miner in civilian life).
The rest - Yes there have been a few re-releases over the years. Culloden was re-done a few years ago and Austerlitz & Normandy were revised and expanded into multi volumed works.
