Battle Orders ... still going?

Nick Brown

Are further editions of the Battle Orders series planned? They appear to have disappeared off the future releases schedule. I was hoping we'd get something on 21st Army Group before this series got closed down.

In the general forum there is a post about Battle Orders.
Short answer is the series is no more.

Mark. Thanks. I'd hadn't picked that one up. I thought that was the case. It is a shame because the 'new' series such as Duel, Raid and Command have not yet inspired me to purchase any of them based on what I've seen so far.

While I fully understand why Osprey isn't going to publish any more of this series (it's not like they're a charity), it is a shame - the battle orders books had perhaps the most unique content of any Osprey series.

I totally agree ND, I loved the TO&E charts the detailed information on organization and weapons. Maybe all these threads on the unfortunate demise of the Battle Orders series (this is the 3rd one) might convince Osprey to bring back the series!

I cannot believe that a series of books dedicated to Eisenhower's army groups and armies in more detail would not be a success. It would complement the books on US divisions very well. British divisions in ETO will draw interest, same as a serie on Soviet forces. USMC in Korea?
I can only hope Osprey will reconsider BTO and ask readers what books they would absolutely buy. I was interested in each an every book in BTO serie so far.
Another BTO fan.

I am very saddened to hear that Osprey are cutting the Battle Order series from their range of excellent books. I have found these books very informative, and feel there are more possible titles in the offering. The Napoleonic, American Civil War and other eras were not covered enough. The Naval forces would also provide great matierial.

I join myself to the ranks of the disappointed by this ending. I can say it was my prefered serie, every one I bought was more than fully satisfying.
I understand such a sad end only for financial reasons.

I have been buying WWII Osprey titles for years and thought Battle Orders was the best series in some time. As the others have said, many possibilities for the future of the series are gone...... I'm very disappointed to see it discontinued.

I'm disappointed to hear this, as the series was much more detailed than the "Campaign" series on the actual fighting formations. These books contained information that probably in not in any one printed source anywhere to date.

Osprey, are you willing to reconsider the position on this series once the economic situation has improved?
