A couple of days ago we announced the launch of a new series, Air Vanguard.
Now, we have a sneak preview of what subjects we are going to cover in the first few months of the series - including 5 titles that were commissioned only days ago.
I think there is a really nice balance to the list - a combination of the big, famous subjects that are needed to introduce a series to bookshops and general readers, mixed with a more focused range of subjects that will appeal to the more experienced aviation enthusiast!
Air Vanguard (AVG) 1 Allison-Engined P-51 Mustang (Sept 2012)
AVG 2 Republic F-105 Thunderchief (Sept 2012)
AVG 3 Sopwith Camel (Oct 2012)
AVG 4 Messerschmitt Me 262 (Nov 2012)
So four brilliant launch titles to get the series started this year. But as promised, we also have a bunch of other titles that have only just been commissioned, and don't yet even have official series numbers or publication dates - so in no particular order, in the first half of 2013 you will also see Air Vanguard books on:
Albatross D.I-D.II
Hawker Hurricane MK I-V
Martin B-26 Marauder
USAF McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom II
General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark
So there you go - the first six months or so worth of Air Vanguard titles. Personally I am probably most excited by the F-111 Aardvark title, not necessarily because I am overly passionate about that particular aircraft, but because it stands out as being one of the main reasons for creating this series. There are dozens of brilliant aircraft that for one reason or another simply can't be covered in our other aviation series. The Aardvark is one of those. And here it is, propping up the launch schedule for Air Vanguard. Exciting times!
