The first supplement for Stargrave is nearly upon us! On September 16th, players will be heading out into abandonded space stations in search of precious new loot. If you're as excited as we are for the new solo campaign, competitive campaigns, and new content, then we have some thrilling previews for you.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

First, let's see what Stargrave: Quarantine 37 has in store for us.

-------

When it was commissioned, Imperial Research Station 37 was home to nearly 10,000 scientists and researchers working on a vast array of biological and chemical projects. Then, six months before the outbreak of the war, Station 37 went dark. No escape pods were launched and all attempts at communication went unanswered. Only a solitary, repeating broadcast filled the silence: "This station is under quarantine - do not approach”. When the war came, the station was forgotten, left to drift lifelessly in its empty system. Now, in the aftermath of the Last War, Station 37 has been rediscovered and its broadcast heard once more…

Quarantine 37 is a supplement for Stargrave in which players lead their crews into an abandoned space station, hunting for lost technology, unique research, and forgotten experiments. Compete with your opponents for these valuable resources across two competitive mini-campaigns, or venture into the vast maze of corridors and laboratories alone in the first Stargrave solo campaign. Also included are six new soldier types, new backgrounds and powers, terrifying additions to the bestiary, and a new advanced technology table packed with loot to help you in your adventures in the ravaged galaxy.

Earlier this week, Joesph. A.  McCullough, creator of Frostgrave, Stargrave and Oathmark, joined Niel Bunker of Diagonal Move to discuss the relative merits of spells vs grenade launchers and other miniatures-based wargaming topics. Let's take a  look at a preview from the interview...

DM: Hi Joseph, thank you for joining us today. Please can you tell us a little about yourself and how you became a games designer?

Thanks for the invite! Looking back, two important things happened when I was in my early teens. First, I became a ‘gamer’. This started when I found a copy of Dungeons & Dragons at a yard sale, and quickly expanded to include other RPGs and miniature games. At the same time, I started to develop a love of writing. For a long time, I thought I wanted to be a fiction writer. I spent most of my university and young adult life writing short stories, but never really getting anywhere. It wasn’t until after I emigrated to Britain, took a job at Osprey Publishing, and helped in the development of Osprey Games that it occurred to me to try writing a game. Even then, it began as a fun distraction. Well, my first attempt at game writing was Frostgrave, and its success convinced me that maybe I had found my calling.

Perhaps we've buried (pun intended) the lead a little here...

Our friends over at Wargames Illustrated have published a flip through video exploring everything that the new book has to offer. So for a full preview of the new backgrounds, types, powers and so much more, watch the video below.

Enjoy.

That's it from us this week. We'll be back next week with more Stargrave previews before it launches on September 16th.
