It’s been a busy old summer, with releases coming thick and fast. Armies of Great Britain: Third Edition has landed on bookshelves around the world, and that means it’s time to meet the next Bolt Action book in line – Armies of the Soviet Union: Third Edition!
Newly arrived to pre-order ahead of its 23rd October release, Armies of the Soviet Union: Third Edition is your ultimate guide to fielding Soviet forces in Bolt Action. Inside its 112 pages, you’ll find everything you need to transform your collection of Soviet miniatures into a mighty fighting force on the tabletop. You’ll also find plenty of fantastic artwork and photography to get you inspired on the hobby front!
New Units! New Rules!
Armies of the Soviet Union: Third Edition collects a host of units old and new from across the Second World War, making it the essential publication for every Soviet player. Accompanying these unit profiles are a brand new set of National Special Rules, ensuring that a Soviet force is both different from all the other nations, and endlessly customisable to your desired playstyle. As with all of our Armies of… books, these rules replace those found in the Bolt Action: Third Edition rulebook, bringing even more depth and variation to how you utilise your miniatures.
New Special Figure!
As is traditional, the new book will be accompanied by a fantastic special miniature! Alongside Armies of the Soviet Union: Third: Edition is Olga Kovalyova! One of the female factory workers who most famously took up arms during the Battle of Stalingrad, she’s depicted in her work clothes, brandishing a submachine gun and flag to inspire her comrades to victory. Kovalyova is a great addition to any Soviet collection, and a great opportunity to really show off your painting skills on a centrepiece model.
New Miniatures!
Following the Bolt Action roadmap, Armies of the Soviet Union: Third Edition is accompanied by a new infantry kit, and a new vehicle, both plastic!
For the infantry, we’ve got a brand new multipurpose set of infantry in ‘summer’ uniforms. Absolutely packed with detail and options (including a full set of heads in NKVD caps – wonder what that could mean from a rules perspective…), this kit is perfect for anyone wanting to field Soviet forces in not-quite-so-chilly climes, right throughout the war. We’ll be doing a sprue focus in the next few weeks, letting you get up close and personal with the new frame, but in the meantime, check out these pre-production 3D prints that Studio Painter Andrés Amian has been working on!
On the vehicle front, it’s time for an absolute icon of the Soviet Army. Remember we did that plastic Studebaker truck not too long ago? Well, it’s back – and packing some serious heat! For the first time, the legendary Katyusha rocket artillery joins our roster as a plastic kit, making it easier than ever to rain destruction all across the tabletop.
