I was lucky enough to recently stumble across \'The Victorian Farm\' on BBC 2. Three people spent a year working a farm using only what the Victorians had at their disposal. With Shire\'s plethora of Victorian titles it was a little like being at work, as so many things linked in to the titles we have published. That did not stop it from being absolutely enthralling!
They were ploughing the field with heavy horses, using an antique pump that amazingly still worked, and collecting coal from a canal boat with which to fuel their range.
I was amazed how well the Victorian era was recreated - even external workmen and artisans came dressed in period costume, so that not a fragment of denim or even the hint of a builder\'s bottom was seen!
I was most impressed, and look forward to watching the coming episodes!
