After a lengthy absence the caption contest has returned! This week we are heading back to the First World War, where we find a group of German pilots with an unlikely dinner guest. We need your help with working out what is going on!

The rules are simple. All you need to do is post a comment with your best caption and we'll announce the winner next month. The prize is our admiration, as well as a copy of the 2016 Osprey Military History Calendar.

You can also enter the contest via Twitter and Facebook.

Here’s our best effort to get the ball moving:

‘Although his hosts seemed incredibly proud, Jenkins couldn’t help but feel that German face painting left a lot to be desired’

For those who wish to unravel the mystery of what is really happening in this scene check out WAR 152 – Royal Naval Air Service Pilot 1914-18 by Mark Barber. The wonderful illustration is by Adam Hook.
