Storm Shadow in combat
In the early hours of 22 March 2003, Tornado GR4 crew Sqn Ldr Andrew M Myers and Wg Cdr David Robertson (commanding 617 Squadron) launched two Storm Shadow missiles from a position west of Baghdad at an air defence radar facility near Kirkuk. Robertson recalled that ‘There was a lot of AAA visible around every town when amplified by night vision goggles (NVG) and as we approached Baghdad, the sky seemed to be alight with AAA and missiles’. The image depicts the aircraft just after it had launched the second of its two Storm Shadow missiles, near Lake Habbaniyah to the west of Baghdad.

Nagato-class Battleships 1920–46: The Imperial Japanese Navy's super-dreadnoughts
By Stefan Draminski

MUTSU, GUNNERY EXERCISE, 1937
In the scene here, Mutsu is firing a half-salvo from her fore main turrets. It was a frequent Japanese practice that one gun from a twin turret was fired while the other one was being reloaded. Note also the main armament rangefinder on the foretop, facing the port side. As a unique solution, it traveled on circular rails around the heptapodal mast rather than rotating around its own axis.
