Signs and Wonders: A Wargame

Being a compleat and most faithful recreation of the war between Kynge, Parleyment, and the Fae

Description

A skirmish wargame merging the battles of the English Civil War with the magic of British folklore.

When brother strove with brother, and Kynge with Parleyment; the dread Fae Queen, with all her court, on merrie progress went.
As the dead of Edgehill rotted, All Hallows' Day did break; and forth there rode a wond'rous host, the Greene Weald in its wake.

Centuries ago, a desperate king pledged himself to the Fae Queen, swearing to unite the Mortal and Fae realms. As memory faded into history and then into myth, this oath was forgotten. Until All Hallows' Eve, 1642, that is, when, into the chaos of a land at war, the Fae returned. Civil war still rages between the King and his Parliament, while the Fae Queen, in pursuit of her own inscrutable agenda, lends aid to Royalist and Roundhead alike. Already scarred by siege and battle, the land is further twisted by the Green Weald – a swathe of riotous nature that spreads as the realms grow closer – and rumours tell of the dead rallying to the banners of an ancient king…

Signs and Wonders is a skirmish wargame of dark fantasy set during the English Civil War. Simple D10-based mechanics and a detailed campaign system follows small bands of soldiers through the trials of battle and the perils of the Green Weald. Balance faction loyalties, troop options, and a bestiary of Fae creatures to build unique forces and craft tales of terrible wonder.
