Welcome back to Pie Sports, you join us now for perhaps the season’s most pivotal match, here at Pipe Leaf Downs….
….Here come our competitors now. Let’s take a look at the mounts they’ve managed to wrangle for this afternoon’s game….
Berf Crudemarrow leads the Pikwyk Fancies. By the looks of it, he’s managed to harness a ferret. Clever creatures, they often anticipate their rider’s wishes, which makes steering them much easier. On the far side of the pitch, Plum Snorberry has borrowed a sheep for the afternoon. The rest of the Tumblehome Wanderers will be pleased given how often we see friendly collisions. Now to his left we ha…
When building a Hairfoot team, each mount option comes with a different attribute. Some offer more movement flexibility while others protect against collisions with obstacles or your teammates.
…. and the riders are off! Here comes Berf, barrelling down the centre of the pitch toward that central dummy. A recent installation here at Pipe Leaf Downs, the crowd love to see riders showboat as they practice their tilting against it. And there we go, he’s dealt that wooden figure a hearty blow and the crowd goes wild. Let’s see is Berf is just as accurate against moving targets. Plum has had the same idea and here he comes now…
Each turn, you’ll choose a rider to activate, rotate them to face your desired direction and then roll to find our which template they’ll use to move.
…I never thought I see that on the field! But look! Plum is wheeling round his sheep to line up a charge on Berf. Both have endured a lot this afternoon. How long can either of them hang on before they give up to the pub? He’s really picking up speed. Surely at this rate, he’ll strike Berf but zoom past and straight into the edge of the arena. There’s the blow! I think the whole crowd heard that one and they’re going wild.
I can’t believe it, in an astounding feat of skill Plum has managed to stop his mount short of the arena wall. I’ve never seen anything like it…
As riders progress through a campaign they’ll earn Special Strikes. Abilities that can be triggered by rolling doubles, triples or quads on successful rolls. These might allow you to barge the opponent or even stop your own charge short to avoid obstacles.
…a day here at Pipe Leaf Downs. The Tumblehome Wanderers step up to the podium to receive their prizes though the crowd already looks to be filtering out of the stands toward the bar. With that, this reporter is putting down their pen to join them.
After each game in a Hairfoot Jousting Campaign there’s a chance for your team to earn True Fans, gain new Special Strikes and win prizes like Heavy Gardening Gloves or a Team Flag.
