Race to rewild the land in this quick and charming strategy game.

Return species to their native environments, from the Eurasian Lynx to the Burrowing Owl, as you create vital routes between habitats in a shared landscape.

Choose to play in two distinct biomes: the lush Scottish uplands and the windswept shortgrass prairie of Montana, each with their own set of animals to rewild. Secretly champion one species, balancing which animals to release and which to hold back, as you work to restore the eco-system and guide the return of wild, thriving nature.

Players: 2-4
Ages: 14+
Playing time: 15-25 minutes
Contents: 74 wooden discs, 7 double-sided map tiles, 8 screens, 1 Rewilding tracker, 1 bag.

Upland & Prairie Game Layout for Four players on the upland side of the board.

From the Designer

“Upland & Prairie is a bluffing game designed around probabilities. The decisions are quick: What do I return? What do I play? What do I hide, so I can try to make the others play for me or my team? Or play straightforward in the hope the others think I’m bluffing. At the same time, I have to work with what I drew. Upland & Prairie is probably an atypical game for me in the sense that it’s more a game where you listen to your gut. On the other hand: It focuses on hard decisions with easy rules, which probably is typical for me after all."

Peer Sylvester (he/him) is an award-winning board game designer of titles like The Lost Expedition, The King is Dead, and Wir sind das Volk!. He started his career in board gaming quite early, mostly because his dad needed a chess opponent.

From the Illustrator

“As an artist working exclusively in physical media, it was a privilege to produce the art for this game. The careful process of rendering these environments and their inhabitants by hand, knowing that each tile, screen, and piece will be experienced in a similarly tactile way by players, has been really exciting. My hope is that, as players navigate and repopulate the Scottish uplands and the American prairie with native wildlife, the game also serves as food for thought regarding the preservation and health of our real-world wild spaces. Upland & Prairie was a joy to work on, and I'm excited for the world to play it!”

Hannah Cohen (they/them) is a scientific illustrator and fine artist working in traditional media. Their scientific illustrations are informative and realistic; their personal work is also heavily biological, but trends towards soft realism, with surreal and symbolic elements.
