Superbly illustrated with artwork of the ship through its career, reconstructions of deck layouts, and 3D illustrations of every detail of the ship from its rigging to its boats to its anchors, this book reconstructs and dissects Germany's Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. Most famously seeing action alongside the battleship Bismarck in their dramatic breakout into the Atlantic, which resulted in the destruction of the British battlecruiser Hood, Prinz Eugen had a long career for a major unit of the Kriegsmarine. In 1942 Prinz Eugen participated in the daring 'Channel Dash' back to Germany, and later was deployed to Norway, where the cruiser was torpedoed by a British submarine. Upon returning to service, she was used as a training ship in the Baltic, then provided fire support for the retreating German Army on the Eastern Front. Having survived the war, she was used as a target ship in the Operation Crossroads nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll.

Drawing on Stefan Draminski's new research and superb 3D reconstructions, this is the most comprehensive examination of Prinz Eugen ever published.
